Greetings, and, as the wind has finally dropped, and today is warmer, with the sun trying hard to come out, I take great joy in saying happy summertime ! It hasn’t felt much like summer lately . . . the gale force winds and lashing rain changed our plans and brought us some adventures a couple of weekends ago when we tried to get from Claonaig, and then Tarbert, to Lochranza for some camping fun. After ferry re-routing, a zoom from Claonaig to Tarbert to no avail and one very wet cycling husband we happened upon a lovely place to warm us and cheer us. I can’t recommend Cafebarge in Tarbert Harbour highly enough as a unique venue, for it’s truly fabulous food and for it’s congenial host Michael.
Once back in dry clothes and warmer you can see how happy we were to stumble upon Cafebarge !
So, it’s not necessarily about what happens in life, more about what you make of it. Attitude is all. The publications and other things I will talk of next are full of right attitude and I highly commend them to you.
Fresh Light Films produced an excellent documentary and education pack a while ago called ‘Beyond Tolerance’. It is an inspirational record of both past and current learning bringing in themes of identity, values, conflict, dialogue, social action, belief, citizenship, the media and much more. With young people at its core it highlights individual stories, diverse opinions and brings difficult ideas to the fore and accounts of real life to light.
These are really great resources for Religion and Belief Relations: ‘Belief In Dialogue’ and Spiritual Care within the NHS, and beyond: ‘Spiritual Care Matters’ . Last, though by no means least, words of comfort and encouragement: ‘Reflections of Life’ is not currently online though is available in all NHS Chaplaincy resources and spaces.
So, get out there in the world, spread the peace, the love, and the understanding (favourite tune – go Elvis !) and plant seeds in the most unlikely of places .
Ciao for now 🙂
